Head Control System - Murder Nature

Download(fixed)

Kristoffer Rygg of Ulver, and some other Portuguese dude I've never heard of before come together for HCS's first release, Murder Nature. They manage to create pretty unique sound on this release, most importantly Kristoffer's vocals manage to not sound like they're straight from a chapter in Ulvers history, while still retaining their usual level of greatness. If I had to compare HCS's sound to other bands I would say that they sound kinda like poppy Meshuggah mixed with some Tool and A perfect Circle. If your looking for somethin completely different, look no further.

Bloodbath - Unblessing the Purity EP

Download

Say goodbye to the confused and irrenivent Hypocricy/Edge of sanity clone bloodbath found on "Nightmares Made Flesh", And say hello to the new and improved. Åkerfeldt is back on vocals, and Swano has been given the boot. Bloodbath has never before sounded this entertaining to my Aural Cavities.

Leviathan + Lurker Of Chalice Megapost

**********************************************
Leviathan and Lurker of Chalice are both solo projects of a guy called Jeff Whitehead (aka Wrest) from San Francisco. Wrest Also Runs a Tattoo shop in sanfran, is involved with the USBM "Supergroup" Twilight, And has released around 20 albums/EPs/splits since 2000...Quite a busy little fellow if I do say so myself. The great thing about Leviathan and Lurker of Chalice is that unlike Many other black metal side projects, they don't sound like the same band, and are essentially equal in quality of releases IMO.

Leviathan
---

Leviathan is the more traditional black metal band of the two, Meaning its incredibly fast, riff driven stuff. Usually traditional black metal bands bore me to tears. There is a difference between tasteful repetition and straight up monotony, and for the most part leviathan walks the path of the former. Expect lightning fast cut-throat riffs, the occasional dark ambient mood, and staple sinister/Psychotic vocals.

Often said to be Leviathan's best, and I'd agree if it wasn't for 2008's Massive Conspiracy against All Life

Lurker Of Chalice
---Wrest other project, under the moniker of Lurker of Chalice, is quite different and more uniquely original then his older project Leviathan. Lurker of Chalice follows the more ambient and depressing portion of Leviathan while still managing to not sound like leviathan lite. Melodic, acoustic and almost unblackmetalish passages and intros are quite frequent here. Lets put it this way, Leviathan is Destruction, Carnage and Slaughter, and Lurker of Chalice is Desolation, Misanthropy and Pestilence.

The Black Keys - Attack & Release and Chulahoma (EP)

Download

More Black Keys For ya'll. I particularly enjoy "Chulahoma", partly because it was my introduction to The Black Keys. I picked it up by mistake because the name rung a bell. I was in fact expecting it to be a full length album and full of experimental rock, by some band i heard a lot of people talking about. (I thought they were the Black Dice.) An admittedly equally embarassing and beneficial fuck-up on my part. When I put it on expecting crazy shit as per Black Dice, and instead was greeted by a twangley soulful blues guitar riff I was more then a little surprised. I was surprised that anyone would call this experimental or noise rock, and I was equally surprised that it was exceptionally good. Hey... everyone makes mistakes.

Tom Waits - Real Gone

Tom Waits... He's Real gone...and Real badass...sorry had to be done, throw your bad joke rocks at me all you want. But seriously if you like tom waits (or funky weird blues) get this thing, throw on "Hoist That Rag" and dance the cha cha all around your living room with whatever/whomever you may. Be it human, canine, feline or mannequin (...freak)

The God Machine - Scenes From The Second Storey

Download
Scenes from the second storey reminds me of the rawness of the earlier Tool albums, and some of the grungier Smashing pumpkins songs out there. Its got an ever so faint essence of Goth here and there through out the album, mainly seen in depressing intro's to some songs. Its a really uniquely diverse album, especially considering it came out in the early nineties. If your a fan of multiple genres of heavy music (grunge, metal, sludge, etcetcblahblah) give this one a try, its pretty dope if I might say so myself.

Genre:All things heavy

Dredg - El Cielo

Download
Really catchy and memorable in pretty much every form. My only beef is when the vocalist crams in way too many words in far too few syllables. Listen to Same ol' Road and Sanzen and you'll see what i mean. "where i can later look and see *thalalalalibble* gallery", *say that part in less then a second...lol. might sound like im mocking them but im just havin some fun, give um a shot, you may just be able to overlook the ramdomly speedy singing and enjoy everything else El Cielo has to offer.
