80's randomega-post

I've recently developed a bit of a fling, so to say, for 80's new wave and early "post-punk". So of course, I am now going to try and force it upon others people just so I'll feel like less of a pariah. Oh and if anyone knows some other bands similar to the ones posted feel free to give me me a shout by responding to this article, id love to check out anything seeing as I am hardly well versed in this genre.

So good. Of this batch of music this is easily one of my personal favorites. If someone told me this was released this year I probably would believe them. But anyway, can't recommend this enough. The only other bands I hear (i know there are more, just harder to think of) in this are random whippets of Joy Division, Swans, and a little Bauhaus.

Also a pretty cool band, and it too doesn't reek of makeup, lipstick and poofy hair like some others. Sounds alot like what would be called art-rock nowadays.

This is another gem I stumbled across on the web. Its a weird but very workable menagerie of Punk, New Wave, Prog Rock, and Ska(The Mr.bungle circus-like kind). The Punk Part is the weakest link in my book, but I've never really enjoyed punk too much anyway; plus the other genres fused in there more then make up for it. One second i'll be getting tired of a particular punky part and the next an epic prog-rock guitar solo will be erupting from the speakers or a Camel-ish synth line will pop out of nowhere and strangly enough, not seem out of place. Great stuff.

Utter Synthpop. Not bad, most of the time its the cool synth lines that save songs from mediocracy, And sometimes edges on mainstream pop. Still worth a look, especially if your used to the whole 80's synthpop thing.

Sisters of Mercy - Some Girls Wander By Mistake

This is a collection of early stuff by the sisters. Cool stuff, Kinda sounds like joy division 5 years after unknown pleasures if Ian Curtis was still around and they never made closer.

Great Synthpop; their last poppy album infact. This album is worth it for a some tracks here and there, at some point i'll upload their later post-rock albums as well...check this out in the meantime

Absence vaugely explained + New Mastodon Single and New Napalm Death

Yeah sorry about the rather long halt in production that has been going on here for anyone who cares enough to be pissed about my blogs absence, but these last 6 months or so have been rather hectic in my world. Also i'm now on my third new computer since I was previously posting due to many unfortunate, aggravating and illogical computer-ish and itunes/ipod fuck-ups. So many in fact that i've made the switch to Zune software and players to avoid having to figure them out. Anyway, I'll try to post more regularly from now on rather than never at all.

New Single by mastodon, off their forthcoming ablum "Crack The Skye". I don't know about you guys but this single is actually getting me excited about this release, Im still hoping the complete lack of screaming vocals is not going to be present on every track on the album. Could be crazy but chunks of this song sound like the mars volta quite alot to me. interesting.

A Fucking awesome new release by Naplam Death. More in your face than Smear Campaign and with less filler to boot. If you like your Death metal catchy with a hefty sprinkle of grind this was made for you.
